Economic and community projects
For us, being a good corporate citizen goes beyond providing access to affordable energy and driving economic development. It means mobilizing our capabilities, and allocating resources where they can make a tangible and positive difference to people's lives.
We engage in a range of voluntary sustainability initiatives and programs that support the communities and the environment in which we operate.
Overseen by our Corporate Citizenship Executive Committee, and guided by our Corporate Citizenship Strategy, our voluntary sustainability community commitments focus on supporting the intellectual, creative, and economic development of our local communities in Saudi Arabia and around the world, and preserving the diverse habitats of the planet.
Knowledge and culture
We recognize that education underlies economic and societal progress, and our ability to create value from the Kingdom’s resource base is dependent upon developing the next generation of highly skilled professionals. That’s why we focus our outreach education programs on building STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) competency and creativity in the youth of Saudi Arabia, and in communities where we operate internationally.
Our efforts to boost STEM competency aim to spark imaginative and analytical thinking. This ability will enable our younger generations to help our efforts to resolve some of the world’s most pressing energy challenges.
The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture
The company’s flagship citizenship initiative, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, is positioned to make a tangible, positive impact on the Kingdom’s future by inspiring a passion for knowledge, creativity, and cross‐cultural engagement. The Center, and the renovated Energy Exhibit, opened in 2017.
Social and economic impact
We support the long-term vitality of our commercial ecosystem, working to build a stronger, more diverse, and competitive energy industry.
Our In-Kingdom Total Value Add Program (iktva) focuses our efforts to build a supply chain that can serve the increasingly diverse and competitive energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
IKTVA
Our In-Kingdom Total Value Add (iktva) program is designed to drive supply-chain efficiency and value across our operations.
Our local and global community support efforts include a wide range of voluntary initiatives and programs, including: disaster relief, literacy and STEM skills development, and volunteer work by our employees for charitable causes.
Our initiative to seed microindustries in the Kingdom is designed to make a positive and lasting difference, by equipping the people in our local communities with the skills, resources, and expertise to create self-sustaining enterprises. We have identified several microindustries that draw upon local resources and traditional crafts that — with the right business model and support — are ripe for generating long-term impact for our communities.
Microindustries
We believe in the power of ideas to create opportunities. And we believe in the power of people to amplify those ideas to generate even more opportunities with greater impact. By connecting people and ideas, we expand possibilities, and contribute to the health and well-being of our communities and the people who call them home.
Supporting biodiversity
We strive to create a culture that prioritizes understanding of ecological habitats, their plants and animals, and promotes their protection, and we are dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity protection in Saudi Arabia. We have long been conducting initiatives to engage our employees and communities in biodiversity protection.
